Woburn Mayor Wants Nips Covered In Bottle Bill
Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin joined a growing number of officials that want deposits on the single-serving liquor bottles.

WOBURN, MA -- Woburn Mayor Scott Galvin wants nip bottles to be covered by the Massachusetts bottle bill. Galvin submitted a resolution to city council which would allow the city to push for changes to the bill by the Massachusetts legislature. The bottle bill puts a five-cent deposit on soda and beer bottles and cans which can be redeemed when the empty is returned to a retailer.
City Council was scheduled to discuss Galvin's request Wednesday. Galvin joins other officials in Massachusetts who believe extending the bottle bill to the single-serving liquor bottles will help combat litter. Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll made a similar request to her city's council last month.
