Woburn native Mitchell Clegg has signed a minor league baseball contract.
Clegg, 25, will play for the Sioux Falls Pheasants of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

The baseball team announced that Clegg joined the Pheasants Tuesday after three years in the Washington Nationals organization.
Clegg was signed by the Nationals after being drafted by the Major League Baseball organization in 2009. In his first year, the Woburnite was a mid-season all-star in the New York-Penn League.

Last year, Clegg pitched for Potomac (Class A) as a starter and reliever, with a 4-7 record, 5.50 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 29 appearances.
The Sioux Fall Pheasants season begins on May 17.
