Woburn Resident Named to New England Revolution Under-14 Roster

Michael Balleani, of Woburn, graduated from the Revolution Academy's elite training program.

The New England Revolution recently announced its 2015-16 rosters for under-18, under-16 and under-14 teams.

The Major League Soccer team announced its roster for the 2015-16 United States Soccer Development Academy season. 57 players from across New England were selected for the three squads. Each player was selected after both invitational training sessions and open tryouts this summer, the team said.

Michael Balleani, forward, of Woburn, was selected to the New England Revolution under-14 roster.

Balleani, one of 21 players on the under-14 roster, graduated from the Revolution Academy’s elite training program, the team said.

“We’re very pleased with the progress of our Academy program and believe that this group of players will represent the Revolution’s high standards,” Revolution director of youth development Bryan Scales said in a release from the team.

Scales went on to say, “The returning players have earned their spots on the team and helped improve the Academy each year, while our new players have accepted a fantastic opportunity. We’re excited to get started in just a few weeks as we look to build upon last season’s success.”

The Revolution Academy is the only fully-funded youth soccer program in New England. It’s currently in its eighth season.
