Pooches in Woburn will soon be able to escape the harsh winter conditions and roam free after the City Council approved one resident’s plans for an indoor dog park on Merrimac Street.

Woburn resident Amber Dagata thought of the idea for an indoor park after her dogs suffered through this past winter’s endless snowfall without a place to play and run around.

The City Council approved Dagata’s plans for the park at a Meeting on Sept. 15, the Woburn Advocate reports. The park will not serve as a daycare for dogs, but as a place owners can bring their pets to comfortably play when the weather turns nasty.

The park, named “Paw Prints,” is slated to open in November on Merrimac Street. A maximum of 25 dogs will be allowed in the 10,000-square-foot facility at one time. Small dogs, larger ones and puppies will have separate play sections.

The park’s permit could be revoked if the City Council learns of barking complaints from neighbors in the area. The park will also be subject to Board of Health regulations.
