Woburn Woman Gets Probation For Kicking Uber Driver, Cop In Salem

Amy Galindo, 21, also tried to bite a Salem State University police officer.

SALEM, MA -- A Woburn woman will be on probation for 18 months after admitting to kicking an Uber driver from Peabody in the head and then kicking and trying to bite a Salem State University police officer. A Salem District Court judge found Amy Galindo, 21, of 33A Park Drive in Woburn, guilty of disorderly conduct assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. The other charges from the November incident including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 60 and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, were continued 18 months without a finding.

Galindo's attorney said that incident and a recent arrest in Boston stemmed from Galindo's drinking. She has not had a drink since January and is in counseling.

Salem State police saw Galindo in the middle of the street on the night of the incident. The 66-year-old driver told police he had thrown her out of her car because she "was too much to handle." He said she had kicked him in the head after he asked her to get out of the car.

Police said they saw Galindo lay down in front of the vehicle. When she saw the approaching officers, she got up and started to walk away, according to a police report. Galindo allegedly screamed vulgarities and a homophobic slur and tried to kick one of the police officers in the groin, but instead hit him in the knee. She tried to brace herself on the door frame of a police cruiser to prevent officers from putting her in the vehicle. She threatened to harm herself if she went to jail and then kicked the police officer in the head.

The police officer struck her in the abdomen in an attempt to stop her struggling, according to a police report. As he attempted to handcuff Galindo, she tried to bite his hand.
