Woburnite Named Collegiate Field Performer of Week

Bowdoin College senior breaks record.

 

Woburn resident Chris Martin was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Field Performer of the Week after a record-breaking performance.

According to Bowdoin College, Martin recorded a 14.54-meter triple jump, breaking a 20-year-old record held by Jeff Mao (1992).

Martin also posted a 6.75-meter long jump.

The Woburnite claimed both the long jump and triple jump titles at the University of New Hampshire's Wildcat Invitational last weekend.

"Chris has been working hard to make some great jumps this spring," said head coach Peter Slovenski. "He's healthy and strong, and he's running better on the runway. His technique is improving each week, so hopefully he can stretch his school record even farther during the championship season."
