Woburn's 375th Birthday Celebrations: Events, Schedule and More

The city is turing 375 years old in 2017, and there is a year-long list of events to celebrate.

WOBURN, MA — The City of Woburn is celebrating its 375th birthday in 2017. There are numerous events planned in celebration of the historic milestone that will take place throughout the year.

The schedule of events begins Sunday, Jan. 8 with a historic and interfaith celebration at the First Congregational Church. Below you will find information on the celebrations and how you can get involved, courtesy of Woburn375.com.

Events Schedule

A Historic and Interfaith Celebration: Jan. 8 at the First Congregational Church from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

The ceremony will feature U.S. Senator Ed Markey as the keynote speaker, a local children's choir and a recreation of the 1642 installation of Rev. Thomas Carter, the first minister of Woburn.

Winter Family Festival and Ice Hockey Classic: Feb. 11 and 12 at Leland Park

This event features sleigh rides, ice skating, ice sculptures and fireworks.

Battle Road Cleanup and Re-Dedication: April 15

A new stone monument will be unveiled during a ceremony and collation.

Memorial Day Ceremony: May 29

The regular Memorial Day ceremonies will feature a special re-dedication of the First Burial Ground.

Celebrating Horn Pond: June 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will include a fishing derby and cookout as well as face painting, kayaking and t-shirts.
