18-Year-Old Charged In Worcester Double-Shooting
Two people were shot Wednesday afternoon in the Main South area. One victim had serious injuries.
WORCESTER, MA — An 18-year-old from Worcester has been charged in connection to a daytime shooting Wednesday in the Main South neighborhood.
Bryan Beras was arraigned Thursday on charges of assault and battery with a gun, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of armed assault to murder, using a firearm during a felony, and multiple firearms charges.
At Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to Main Street near Charlton Street on a report of gunshots. A witness told police that one of the victims was driven to a local hospital, and had suffered serious injuries.
Worcester police located the second victim along Main Street. That person's injuries were described as non-life threatening.
A security camera from a nearby barber shop captured the shooting. The video shows a man jump out of the passenger side of a vehicle and shoot someone at close range.
A 20-year-old man was shot late Monday night near the intersection of Pleasant and Piedmont streets. That shooting followed a vigil for a Worcester 16-year-old who was killed in a Boston shooting on Sunday, but police have not said the two events are connected.
