3 Allegedly Beat And Robbed Homeless Man: Worcester Police

A man was beaten and robbed behind Widoff's Bakery.

WORCESTER, MA—Two men have been arrested and one is at large after allegedly beating and robbing a man behind Widoff's Bakery this weekend.

Around 12:09 p.m. on Friday, police headed to 129 Water St. where EMS had responded to a man who was laid out behind Widoff's Bakery. Officers were told there had been a fight between the man and several others.

Widoff's owner had noticed the man and called police. The victim, a 48-year-old homeless, man was described as "dazed and confused," but said he was beaten and robbed. He was treated at the scene and brought to the hospital.

Detectives talked to the victim at the hospital, but the victim was in and out of consciousness, intubated and unable to speak, on his way to a CAT scan.

Watching the incident on security cameras, it shows three men approaching the victim. One pulls a knife and the other two go through the victim's pockets while the victim was assaulted.

Detectives were able to get a clear picture of the suspects and at approximately 7:45 p.m., one of the suspects was located. The suspect was identified as Tracy Gillette, 50, with an unknown address (homeless). Gillette was placed under arrest and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Armed Robbery Armed Assault with the Intent to Rob.

By 9:20 p.m., detectives spotted a second suspect walking on the sidewalk by the YMCA on Main Street. Michael Fitzgerald, 42, Grove Street, Hopkinton, was placed under arrest and charged with Armed Robbery.

Both men were arraigned on Monday at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
Investigators continue to search for the third suspect.
