3 Worcester County Courts Close: Judge Positive For Coronavirus

WORCESTER, MA — A judge who tested positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19, visited three courthouses in Worcester County, and now all three are closed temporarily, according to MassLive.

The Worcester District Court along Main Street will be closed until at least March 27 due to the COVID-19 exposure, according to court officials. Courthouses in East Brookfield and Dudley will also close: Dudley until April 2, and East Brookfield just for the day on Wednesday.

Courthouses across the state were already closed to in-person appearances until April 6 except for emergency matters due to the coronavirus outbreak. Most other matters are being handled through videoconferencing.

Worcester County has seen a steady increase of COVID-19 cases, up to 73 as of Tuesday afternoon. A woman in her 80s became the county's first COVID-19 death on Monday, according to the state Department of Public Health.
