80-Year-Old Man Dies After Crash on Massasoit Road

A man has succumbed to injuries he sustained in a two-car crash on June 15.

WORCESTER, MA—An 80-year-old man from Worcester has died after injuries he sustained in a crash on June 15.

Kiet Huynh was pronounced dead at a local hospital on June 17.

On June 15, at approximately 9:11 a.m., Worcester police responded to a serious two car accident in the area of 298 Massasoit Road. Officers found Huynh suffering from extensive injuries, and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The driver of the second vehicle, a 32-year-old male, was treated for minor injuries. Both drivers are Worcester residents.

Massasoit Road was closed while investigators processed the crash scene.

Investigators found that the 32-year-old driver was driving a 2003 Buick Rendezvous north on Massasoit Road, and as he approached Massasoit and Lawton Street, the Huynh, who drove a 1995 Plymouth Acclaim, tried to make a U-turn. He drove south but when he attempted to turn, it was mostly in the northbound lane, directly in the path of the Buick. The Buick hit his passenger side, and the force pushed the Plymouth 51 feet sideways into a tree, trapping Huynh in his vehicle.

This investigation is ongoing; no citations have been issued at this time.
