A passenger in a crash on Park Ave. on Wednesday has died.

WORCESTER, MA—A 96-year-old woman has died after injuries she sustained in a multiple-vehicle crash on Park Ave. on Wednesday afternoon, said officials.

On Wednesday, Aug. 17, at approximately 2 p.m., Worcester Police responded to the intersection of Park Ave and Lovell Streets for a report of a serious motor vehicle accident.

A 2003 Jeep Cherokee driving north on Park Ave. toward a construction site changed lanes before the construction without yielding, colliding with a 2007 Buick. The driver of the Buick lost control of her vehicle and drove up and over the curbing onto the sidewalk, and then into a construction vehicle parked in the construction zone.

Paramedics responded to the scene and treated the 96-year-old female passenger of the Buick for a serious leg injury. She was transported to a local hospital. The 59-year-old female operator of the Buick was also transported to a local hospital and is being treated for neck and chest pain.

The name of the deceased woman has not been released.
