Worcester Launches Shannon Youth Violence Prevention Grant Application
The city has opened the first step in its next round of funding for local groups working on youth violence prevention.
WORCESTER, MA — Worcester has opened the first step in its next round of Shannon Community Safety Initiative funding for local groups working on youth violence prevention.
The city’s Division of Youth Opportunities announced Tuesday that nonprofit organizations and youth-serving community groups must submit a Letter of Interest to be considered for an invitation to apply for up to $75,000 in Shannon CSI funding for 2027. The city said only groups that file an LOI, meet eligibility requirements and align with the grant’s goals will be invited to submit a full proposal.
The anticipated funding cycle will run from about Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2027, according to the city. The LOI application was released on May 26 and is due June 12. Worcester plans to release the full request for proposals on July 3, with applications due July 24 and award notifications expected in January 2027, according to the city’s Shannon and SSYI page.
Worcester’s Youth Opportunities division oversees the city’s Shannon and Safe and Successful Youth Initiative grants, which are focused on violence prevention and intervention, according to the city. The Shannon Community Safety Initiative aims to reduce gang violence through evidence-based approaches across Massachusetts, according to the city.
