WORCESTER, MA — A 29-year-old city man fought with a Worcester officer following a shooting in the Vernon Hill area early Saturday morning, according to police. The officer was able to subdue and arrest Dwayne Reavis, 29, of Grafton Street.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of Millbury Street and Perry Avenue. An officer saw Reavis walking down a nearby street and stopped to search him.

When the officer frisked Reavis, she found a gun in his pocket. He then began to fight with her, police said, and tried to pull the officer's radio off her uniform. She was able get away from Reavis and "took [Reavis] down to the ground," police said in a description of the fight.
