Agawam Official Hired As New Worcester Assessor
Outgoing Worcester assessor William Ford resigned in January to take a job in Norwalk, Conn.

WORCESTER, MA — A key administrative job in Worcester city government was filled this week when City Manager Edward Augustus hired Samuel Konieczny to be the new assessor.
Konieczny is taking over for former assessor William Ford, who resigned in January to become the assessor in Norwalk, Conn. Konieczny comes to Worcester from Agawam, where he served as the chief assessor.
Worcester has seen a number of department heads either depart city government or retire so far in 2020. Former chief financial officer Tom Zidelis retired in March after 34 years, and former city clerk Susan Ledoux has also retired. Former city attorney David Moore retired in January.

"Konieczny is the perfect candidate to take on this demanding role," Augustus said in a statement. "He is engaged and passionate about his work and has the right combination of skills and experience to lead the assessing division and be an integral member of the administration and Finance Department management team.”
The city assessor oversees property valuations, which determine how much residential and business property owners pay in taxes.
