Alleged Biker Club Feud at Suney's Pub Results in 2 Assault Arrests

An investigation has been underway since the assault in May. Two are now under arrest.

WORCESTER, MA—After an investigation that has been underway since early May, two have been arrested in an assault incident where two men were hit in the head with a flashlight, and punched, outside of Suney's Pub on Chandler Street in Worcester.

On May 8, around 7:20 p.m., Worcester police were called to the pub at 216 Chandler St. for a reported assault and battery involving a dangerous weapon. They found a 25-year-old man and 54-year-old man both suffering from head injuries. They were treated by Worcester EMS and transported to the hospital.

Police were told that the 25-year-old was outside of the bar when he was accosted by several men, who punched him and struck him with a large flashlight, and he was knocked to the ground. The older man was inside and saw the fight, coming outside to help the younger man. He was also struck on the head with the flashlight and punched.

Witnesses told police around 7 men attacked the two, and that one of the suspects closed the door so no one else could leave the pub.

At the hospital, where both victims suffered from cuts to the head and face, they told police that during the attack, their jackets and a cell phone were taken during the attack. The victims would not share any information about motive, or the identities of the suspects. The 54-year-old man was downgraded to serious condition, and taken to surgery, where he was in serious but stable condition.

Investigators found that the two groups belong to motorcycle clubs that have "been at odds with each other." Police also found on social media that the two clubs were having issues, as well as physical confrontations.

Two of the suspects were identified, and on Friday, June 17, Jake Doherty, 32, 84 Sears Island Drive, Worcester, was located at home and arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (flashlight) and Aggravated Assault and Battery.

On Monday, June 20, Michael Blair, 37, 1039 Main St., Worcester, was located at his home and placed under arrest. Blair was charged with Armed Robbery, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (flashlight) and Aggravated Assault and Battery.
