WORCESTER, MA — A Webster man was sentenced to a decade in federal prison after admitting he distributed crystal methamphetamine in Worcester and Everett earlier this year, federal prosecutors said.

Giang Tran, 36, was sentenced May 8 in U.S. District Court in Worcester to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman imposed the sentence.

Tran pleaded guilty in January to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances involving 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, as well as distribution of methamphetamine, according to the USAO. He had been indicted in June 2025.

Federal investigators said a cooperating witness told law enforcement in December 2024 that Tran was supplying pounds of crystal methamphetamine.

Tran agreed to sell methamphetamine to undercover law enforcement officers posing as the cooperating witness on three separate occasions, according to prosecutors.

On Jan. 2, 2025, Tran personally delivered methamphetamine to a commercial plaza in Everett, prosecutors said. Authorities said Tran later sent an associate to deliver drugs in Worcester on Jan. 8 and Jan. 21, 2025.

In total, investigators said Tran delivered or arranged the delivery of about 1 kilogram of methamphetamine.
