Hundreds of Central Massachusetts workers are facing layoffs as several employers filed notices with the state last week.

WORCESTER, MA — Hundreds of Central Massachusetts workers are facing layoffs this year after several employers filed notices with the state.

Community Healthlink, Jabil Inc. and Chase Corporation plan layoffs affecting 302 employees in Worcester County communities, according to the state’s latest Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications. Employers with 50 or more workers must notify the state at least 60 days before a qualifying layoff or plant closing under the WARN Act.

Community Healthlink, which provides mental health and addiction services across Central Massachusetts, filed an updated notice last week stating it would lay off 127 employees in Leominster, Webster and Worcester effective Jul. 31.

The cuts come as Community Healthlink has been moving toward closure and transitioning programs to other providers, according to public reporting.

Similarly, Jabil, an engineering, supply chain and manufacturing company, said it is winding down operations at its Clinton facility; the company told PlasticsToday, a news outlet covering the global plastics market. The company will consolidate production at its Decens site after reviewing its manufacturing footprint, business demand and long-term needs, according to the report.

Chase Corporation, which makes specialty chemicals and protective materials, including coatings, adhesives, sealants, tapes and laminates, also filed a notice that it would lay off 72 workers in Oxford. The cuts are expected between Aug. 1 and Dec. 31.

It's not yet clear why Chase Corporation is planning the cuts. Patch has reached out to the company for more information.
