WORCESTER, MA — A longtime pub in Worcester will close for good next month after decades in the city.
Greendale’s Pub, located at 404 West Boylston St., will close July 1, the owner said in an announcement on Wednesday. The owner said he is retiring after 38 years working at Greendale’s, including 27 years as owner.
“It was a hard decision to make. It’s been a big part of my life for a long time,” the owner wrote.
The owner thanked current and former staff, customers and bands that played at the pub over the years.
“They have been the heart and soul of Greendale’s from day one,” he wrote of the staff. “I want to thank all the bands who played at Greendale’s through the years. We had some great entertainment there.”
The owner said he hopes whoever takes over the space keeps the entertainment going.
“I made a lot of great friends there over the years,” he wrote. “It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do but it’s time.”
