WORCESTER COUNTY, MA — A sobriety checkpoint will be held somewhere in Worcester County this weekend, Massachusetts State Police said.
The checkpoint is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, through Sunday, June 28, and will operate during varied hours on a public way in the county to identify and remove drivers operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the Massachusetts State Police.
State Police Superintendent Col. Geoffrey D. Noble announced the checkpoint in a June 22 notice. Police did not identify the exact road or community where the checkpoint will take place.
The checkpoint will be funded through a grant from the Office of Grants and Research, part of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, according to state police. The office manages state and federal grants distributed to public agencies and nonprofits across Massachusetts, according to Mass.gov.
State police said vehicles will not be selected arbitrarily and that safety will be maintained with minimal inconvenience to drivers.
