WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man is facing drug charges after police searched a vehicle and a Shannon Street apartment Monday afternoon.
Luis Pizarro-Ayala, 44, is facing charges of trafficking cocaine between 36 and 99 grams and possession of a Class A substance, fentanyl, with intent to distribute, according to Worcester police. Police said vice detectives had search warrants July 13 for a Honda CRV and a Shannon Street residence, both naming Pizarro-Ayala as the target.
At about 4:45 p.m., detectives saw Pizarro-Ayala arrive at Shannon Street in the Honda, police said. Detectives approached the vehicle and arrested him as he got out of the driver’s seat, police said.
Other vice detectives, along with Worcester K-9 and Worcester Emergency Operations personnel, approached the target address. Police said detectives entered the apartment after knocking, announcing themselves and receiving no response.
Three adult women and one adult man were found inside the apartment, police said. All were shown the search warrant and read their Miranda rights.
Detectives found about 43 grams of cocaine, two bags of fentanyl, $7,000 and drug paraphernalia during a search of the apartment, according to police. A search of the Honda found 5 grams of fentanyl and 2 grams of crack cocaine hidden in the driver’s side door compartment, police said.
The Worcester Police Department vice squad was assisted by a Framingham police narcotics K-9 during the searches.
