Worcester County Resident Wins Major Prize On Scratch Ticket

LEOMINSTER, MA — One lucky lottery player in Worcester County won a major prize on Friday.

Angela Tarr of Leominster won a $500,000 grand prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$500,000 Frenzy" scratch-off game. She chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $355,000 before taxes.

Tarr told the state's Lottery Commission that she plans to put the winnings toward her family and savings.

The winning ticket was purchased at Family Farms, at 202 Merriam Ave. The store will recieve a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

To win "$500,000 Frenzy," a player must match any of their numbers to the winning numbers.

This was the fifteenth $500,000 top prize claimed for this game. Meanwhile, 35 top prizes of $500,000 have yet to be claimed.

Another massive prize was sold in Leominster last week.

A winning $2.4 million ticket was purchased at Jayzi Mart, a small convenience store at 9 Pleasant St in Leominster on Tuesday. The prize was won from the Massachusetts State Lottery's "Decade of Dollars" scratch-off game.
