WORCESTER, MA — The Quinsigamond Community College Police Department has earned re-accreditation for the third time.

Police Chief Stephen DiGiovanni accepted the award from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission on Tuesday. QCC police were among 20 law enforcement agencies recognized during the commission's presentation ceremony.

Deputy Chief Reynaldo Rodriguez, the department's accreditation manager, and Deputy Chief Michael Vigeant attended the ceremony with DiGiovanni.

Accreditation is voluntary for Massachusetts police departments. To earn and maintain the designation, departments must demonstrate that officers and staff follow written policies, document their compliance and remain current with professional standards.

The accreditation process includes an outside review of the department's policies and practices based on standards shared by law enforcement agencies across Massachusetts.

College officials thanked QCC police officers and staff for serving the campus community with "pride, honor and integrity."
