Worcester Trust Claims Major Lottery Prize

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester-based trust claimed a major lottery prize last week.

Jo's Dime Trust of Worcester claimed a $500,000 top prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$500,000 Frenzy" scratch ticket game. The winner purchased the ticket at Cumberland Farms, 502 Washington St., in Auburn last Thursday.

The trust, represented by trustee Katherine Wally, chose to receive its prize in the form of a one-time payment of $500,000, before taxes. The state lottery commission did not say what they plan to do with the money.

Retailers that sell a winning ticket also typically receive a bonus from the lottery.

To win the "$500,000 Frenzy" game, a player must match any of their numbers to the winning numbers. The odds of winning a prize that large are one in 161,280, according to the state lottery.

This marked the twenty-second top prize of $500,000 claimed for the game. But there are still 28 top prizes of $500,000 that have yet to be claimed.

Nearby, another major prize was sold in Worcester County last week. A winning $200,000 ticket was purchased at a Summit Mobil location in Worcester last Monday. The prize was won from the Massachusetts State Lottery's "$15,000,000 Magnificent Millions" game.

The Massachusetts State Lottery publishes a daily list of winning tickets sold statewide on its website. You can find it here.
