WESBTER, MA — Two people were killed in a wrong-way crash in Webster on Saturday, according to state police.

A state police investigation found that at 10:17 p.m., a GMC Sierra pickup was driving north in the left lane of the southbound side of I-395. At the same time, a 2012 Honda CR-V was driving south in the same lane.

The pickup struck the Honda head-on near exit 3.

The pickup's driver, Jordan Pimentel, 31, of Auburn, suffered a fatal injury and was determined to be dead at the scene of the accident.

The Honda's driver, Kayla Morey, 35, of Dayville, CT also suffered a fatal injury and was determined to be dead at the scene of the accident, state police said.

Morey was a teacher at Putnam Elementary School, WFSB 3-TV reported. She taught in the district since 2012.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

"The investigation into the facts and circumstances of the crash, including why Mr. Pimentel was operating the wrong way and where he entered the wrong side of the highway, is ongoing," police said in a statement.

Both sides of I-395 were closed for about five hours for rescue response and crash reconstruction.
