WORCESTER, MA — A group of employees from Central Massachusetts have been selected for annual public service awards.
The Worcester Regional Research Bureau announced the honorees for the 2026 Thomas S. Green Public Service Awards.
This year’s recipients are Christina Connolly, community resource manager at Worcester Public Library; Emily Glaubitz, manager of housing projects at the Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission; Richard Gonzalez, community navigator and recovery coach with Worcester Health & Human Services; Kelsey Lamoureux, assistant director of innovation career pathways for Worcester Public Schools; and Sue Obiero, parent information center student assignment officer for Worcester Public Schools.
The awards recognize public employees whose work reflects exceptional job performance, service beyond their formal duties, a cooperative approach with the public and coworkers, and involvement in the community outside the workplace, according to the bureau.
The Research Bureau said Connolly helped create the library’s Community Resources Department, connecting residents with housing, food, health care, employment and other services. Glaubitz was recognized for managing housing and planning projects across Central Massachusetts, including work in smaller communities with limited planning staff.
Gonzalez was cited for helping connect vulnerable residents with mental health and housing support and for advancing a Recovery Court Diversion program focused on treatment instead of incarceration, according to the bureau. Lamoureux was honored for expanding career-connected and work-based learning opportunities for Worcester students through the Innovation Career Pathways Program. Obiero was recognized for her work helping families enroll in Worcester Public Schools and navigate the school system.
The award is named for Thomas S. Green, a founder and original director of the Research Bureau. Recipients were chosen by an awards committee from nominations submitted by the public, according to the organization.
The 2026 Thomas S. Green Public Service Awards celebration is scheduled for 5 p.m. June 11 at the DCU Center. The event is free and open to the public, according to the Research Bureau.
