Babysitter Gets 10 Years In Prison For Raping 7-Year-Old Girl: Worcester DA

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man last week was sentenced to 10 to 11 years in state prison after a Worcester Superior Court jury found him guilty of raping a 7- to 8-year-old girl, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

David W. Thompson, 46, was also sentenced to three years of probation with conditions that he have no unsupervised contact with children under 16, register as a sex offender, undergo sex offender evaluation and treatment, be monitored with a GPS bracelet and have no contact with the victim. The jury returned guilty verdicts for child rape aggravated by age difference, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and dissemination of material harmful to a minor.

Judge Richard Tucker handed down the sentence after Assistant District Attorney Kristin Salvatore recommended that Mr. Thompson be sent to prison for 12-14 years, followed by five years of probation.

She said the offenses occurred over a year’s time and Thompson had violated the girl’s trust while serving as her baby sitter. Thompson’s attorney asked for a prison sentence of 10 years to 10 years and a day.
