‘Bat Out of Hell – The Musical’ Brings Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s Iconic Rock to The Hanover Theatre!

One-night-only performance set for April 23; tickets on sale now for the high-energy theatrical rock spectacle

Fans of classic rock and theatrical spectacle will have one night to experience the music of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf live on stage when Bat Out of Hell – The Musical comes to The Hanover Theatre & Conservatory for the Performing Arts on April 23, 2026.

The production will take the stage at 7:30 p.m., bringing with it a world-class cast of performers and an eight-piece rock band performing some of the most recognizable songs in rock history.

The musical is based on Steinman’s legendary Bat Out of Hell albums, which together have sold more than 68 million copies worldwide. The original 1977 album became one of the best-selling records of all time, and its 1993 follow-up, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, featured the Grammy-winning hit “I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).”

The stage adaptation features fan-favorite songs including “Bat Out of Hell,” “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad,” “You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth,” and “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” along with the previously unreleased track “What Part of My Body Hurts the Most.”

Set in a dystopian city, the story follows a rebellious group of teens known as “The Lost” who live beneath the streets. Their fearless leader Strat falls in love with Raven, the daughter of the city’s authoritarian ruler, setting the stage for a passionate and dangerous romance that threatens both of their worlds.

Since its debut, Bat Out of Hell – The Musical has earned international acclaim. The production won the Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Awards and received eight WhatsOnStage Award nominations. Critics have praised the show’s over-the-top theatricality and unforgettable music, with The New York Times calling it “extravagant, absurd, compulsively hummable.”

The touring production features book, music and lyrics by Steinman and direction by Jay Scheib. The North American tour is produced by Tony and Emmy Award winner Michael Cohl alongside Tony Smith and David Sonenberg.

Since opening in 2008, The Hanover Theatre has welcomed more than two million guests and hosts a wide range of Broadway tours, concerts, comedy shows and community events. Located at 551 Main Street in downtown Worcester, the historic venue has become a cornerstone of the city’s cultural revitalization.
