Big Loan For Polar Park Costs OK'd: Patch PM

WORCESTER, MA — Welcome to a slushy Wednesday afternoon — but it won't stay like that for long with wind chills below zero expected across the region beginning on Thursday.

In Worcester last night, City Councilors approved a $14 million loan for the Worcester Red Sox to help the team pay off $17.3 million in cost overruns for Polar Park. The team will pay the city back, according to the terms of the deal.

Down with white gowns: The Braintree High School class of 2021 will wear blue gowns at graduation, ending a tradition where boys wore blue and girls wore white. The school committee approved the change in a 6-1 vote, saying the move was more inclusive for transgender and non-binary students.
