WORCESTER, MA — There's plenty to do in the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor in April 2022, from bike trips to litter pickups.

Spring is in the air in the Blackstone Valley! The Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor and the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park invite you to get out and explore! For starters, join Blackstone Heritage Corridor Trail Ambassador volunteer Ernie Germani on Saturday, April 2, at the Monastery in Cumberland, RI (1464 Diamond Hill Road) for a guided hike starting at 9 a.m. To register, visit bit.ly/MonasteryHike2022. Then, on Wednesday, April 6 at 10 a.m., join Ranger Mark Mello to celebrate National Walking Day with a guided walk around Blackstone River State Park in Lincoln, RI and explore the evolution of a nearby mill village. Get your bike ready for spring and attend a “Luvin’ Your Bike – Bike Clinic” led by Blackstone Heritage Corridor Bikeway Ambassador Leon Droby on Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Blackstone Heritage Corridor office (670 Linwood Ave., Whitinsville, MA). This volunteer skills workshop is open to the public and will include training on how to repair a flat tire, cleaning and lubrication of your bicycle, and more. RSVP at bit.ly/BikeClinicSW.

Grab your bike or just lace up your sneakers and head to the Blackstone River Bikeway/Greenway for Celebrate Trails Day on Saturday, April 23. The Blackstone Heritage Corridor is hosting two events: one at the Blackstone River Greenway (85 Canal Street, Blackstone, MA) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and a second at the Blackstone River Bikeway (1075 Lower River Road, Lincoln, RI) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Meet Blackstone Heritage Corridor’s Bikeway Ambassadors and go on guided rides that depart at 10:30 a.m. in Blackstone and 2:30 p.m. in Lincoln. Learn about volunteer opportunities and efforts to expand the Bikeway/Greenway.

Blackstone Heritage Corridor volunteers will be supporting All Out Adventures with their Accessible Cycling for Veterans program this spring, offering free programs for Veterans on consecutive Thursdays starting April 21 and ending June 9. Events will alternate between the Blackstone River Greenway in Blackstone, MA, and the Blackstone River Bikeway in Lincoln, RI.
