Census Ruling Will 'Shortchange' MA Communities: Patch PM

Plus: 2 teens recovering after wreck | Public works truck stolen | Worcester shuts down reservoir | More

WORCESTER, MA — Welcome to a sunny Wednesday following a daylong rainstorm on Tuesday. But it's not enough to quench the state's drought, with a huge part of the state from Norfolk County to Provincetown still gripped by an extreme drought.

Also on Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the 2020 Census count can stop this week, per an order from the Trump administration. Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin responded today by saying that ending the count early will "shortchange" communities across Massachusetts. The Census is used to determine federal funding and shape congressional districts.
