WORCESTER, MA — A 3-year-old girl suffered minor injuries Thursday night when someone opened fire near a car she was riding in.

Police responded to Harding Street near Crompton Park at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday on a report of gunfire. Officers found a car that had possibly been damaged in a shooting. The girl suffered a leg injury, but police did not immediately know if she was actually hit by gunfire.

Worcester police have responded to two other shootings in the last week. On July 9, a man was injured when someone opened fire along Mount Pleasant Street. Police have arrested Jose Merced, 33, and charged him with assault with intent to murder.

On July 10, a man was shot and injured along Hope Avenue. Two juveniles were arrested in connection to that incident.
