WORCESTER, MA — The latest person to test positive for the new coronavirus in Worcester is a staff member at Clark University, the school announced on Tuesday.

The person is in isolation, and a number of people they had contact with are being asked to self-quarantine. The university did not release details about where the person traveled, but did say that no students were in contact with the staff member.

"The individual with COVID-19 has been in isolation at home since developing symptoms of the virus and getting the test taken," Clark said in a statement. "We wish this staff member a speedy and full recovery."

Worcester officials on Tuesday confirmed that a third person in the city tested positive for COVID-19. Five other people have been tested, and four have tested negative.

Worcester is enacting new strictures related to COVID-19 on Wednesday. City Hall will be closed to the public until further notice. The municipal building at 25 Meade St., and all parks and Department of Public Works buildings are also closed to the public.
