Composite Sketch Released in Cold Case of Mass. Teacher Murdered in 1992
The unsolved murder is nearly a quarter-century old, but the district attorney said Wednesday they have a new lead.
AGAWAM, MA — The cold case of a Massachusetts teacher abducted and killed in 1992 was revitalized this week, when the district attorney released the first composite image based on DNA found at the scene.
Hampden County District Attorney Anthony Gulluni told reporters about what he called a "significant development" in a press conference Wednesday morning.
Agawam middle school teacher Lisa Ziegert, 24, was abducted from her second job in April of 1992. Four days after her disappearance, her body was found in woods nearby.
The DA's office submittsd male DNA from the scene to a DNA phenotyping service that produced a possible image of the suspect, based on traits forecast in the DNA.
Gulluni released that composite image to the public Wednesday, cautioning this is a "scientific approximation" that can't capture many specifics, such as age and weight.
That composite describes a man with fair skin, black or brown hair, and brown or hazel eyes.
A new state police tip line has been set up for anyone with information, at (413) 333-9148.
