Deadly Crash Closes Route 20 In Auburn
A head-on crash between two cars left one person dead.
AUBURN, MA — Route 20 was closed in both directions in Auburn after a head-on crash on Thursday. Police said the crash left passengers with serious injuries and the Worcester District Attorney said one person died in the crash and another driver was taken into police custody.
A Ford Explorer crossed the double-yellow line on Washington Street and struck a Toyota Tacoma and Jeep Grand Cherokee in the wrong lane of travel. One passenger in the Jeep was taken to the UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep was injured and admitted to UMass. The driver of the Explorer, who had outstanding warrants, was injured and is in custody at UMass.
Authorities closed the road at Millbury Street and School Street for hours.

Multiple ambulances were requested to the area. The Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s accident reconstruction team responded to the incident as well as State Police. The crash is under investigation.
