WORCESTER, MA — A 26-year-old man wanted in a shooting earlier this month turned himself in on Tuesday, according to Worcester police.

The March 4 shooting happened near the corner of Main and Highland streets near 4:30 p.m. Police arrived to find an 18-year-old with a non-life threatening wound who was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Cristian Carrasquillo was arrested on Tuesday after turning himself in.

Despite this shooting and the high-profile shooting deaths of Chasity Nunez and her daughter, Zella, 11, last week, Worcester police have reported a lower number of recent overall shootings. There were six fewer shooting incidents in February compared to the same month in 2023, and eight fewer non-fatal shooting victims. February was also below the city's five-year average for shootings and non-fatal shooting victims, the department reported this week.
