Driver Leaves Worcester Pedestrian Badly Injured On Pleasant St.

The driver jumped the curb and hit the pedestrian on the sidewalk Monday afternoon, police said.

WORCESTER, MA — A 51-year-old pedestrian was left with life-threatening injuries after a driver drove onto the sidewalk and hit him along Pleasant Street on Monday afternoon.

The collision happened just before 4 p.m. Monday near the corner of Pleasant and Oxford streets. According to Worcester police, a person driving a small SUV drove onto the sidewalk, hit the victim, and then continued moving, also hitting a hydrant and a parked car.

Police did not immediately announce any charges against the driver, who was also taken to a local hospital due to injuries.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation as of Tuesday morning, police said.
