Expect Detours In Worcester For Officer Iggy Garcia's Funeral
Garcia died over the Labor Day weekend after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

WORCESTER, MA — A wake and funeral for Worcester Officer Iggy Garcia will be held on Friday and Saturday, which means intermittent street closures for a potentially large procession that may draw police from around the state.
Garcia, who would've turned 47 in September, died over the Labor Day weekend after a pancreatic cancer diagnosis earlier this year. Garcia was a 17-year member of the police department whose battle with cancer drew an outpouring of community support.
Calling hours will be held beginning at 4 p.m. Friday at the Mercadante Funeral Home, 370 Plantation St. The funeral will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln St.
Lincoln Street will be closed between about 9 a.m. and noon between Sturgis Street and Duxbury Road near the UMass Memorial Hahnemann campus. Drivers will detour around the area through neighborhoods off of Lincoln Street. Webster Street will also be closed near the cemeteries between 11 a.m. and noon, according to Worcester police.
