Baez is being remembered as a loving and caring father who enjoyed traveling, according to a GoFundMe organized by his sister, Catalina Baez.
"He was an amazing, charismatic person who lived each day enjoying the sun and appreciating life to the fullest," the fundraiser states. "Our family is trying to pick up the pieces and understand how this could happen, but we will never be able to fill the hole this has left in our hearts."
His family is asking for help to raise money to bring his body to Massachusetts.
“We are desperately asking for any help the community and loved ones may be able to provide,” the fundraiser states. “We have set up a GoFundMe in hopes of bringing our brother home to Massachusetts, where his ashes will be laid to rest next to our mother."
His family said they also hope to carry his ashes across the country to places he dreamed of being.
The fundraiser has raised nearly $2,000 toward its $12,000 goal.
