WORCESTER, MA — A grand jury indicted a Fitchburg man this week on a murder charge for the fatal July shooting of a Worcester mother, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr.

According to prosecutors, Keith Jones, 32, drove to a home along Cambridge Street on July 16 and opened fire on a group of people sitting outside. Felicia Obeng, 41, died after getting caught in the crossfire, and her 63-year-old mother was wounded.

On top of the murder charge, the grand jury indicted Jones on charges of two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, two counts of assault and battery by discharge of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm not at home or work, and possession of a loaded firearm not at home or work, according to the prosecutors office.

Jones was initially arrested in August on fewer charges, and has been held in jail ever since.
