High Ranking Faculty Member at Braintree Prep School Arrested on Sex Charges in Worcester

A man who had been investigated by Worcester detectives was arrested at the Main Street McDonald's in Worcester.

WORCESTER, MA—A man described as a "high ranking faculty member at a Braintree preparatory school" has been arrested and charged with trying to make a deal to have sex with an undercover officer in Worcester.

Over the last several weeks, members of the Worcester Police Detective Bureau assigned to the Cyber Crime Unit investigated Steven Bliss, 46, Liberty Street, Braintree.

During the investigation, undercover officers had multiple conversations with Bliss in which he offered to engage in sex for a fee, said police. Based on these conversations, detectives developed probable cause that Bliss had engaged in commercial sex activity by communicating with an undercover officer and lured a person by promising money to engage in sexual activities.

Bliss arranged to meet an undercover officer on Sept. 5 at McDonald's, 955 Main St. in Worcester to have sex for a fee. When Bliss arrived at the meeting spot, he was arrested.

According to the state's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education website, Bliss is the principal of CATS Academy. The school moved from Newton to Braintree this year.

Bliss is being charged with Offering to Engage in Sex for a Fee as well as Human Trafficking.
