I-190 Paving In Worcester Will Slow Traffic
MassDOT is continuing its project rehabilitating the bridge over the Providence & Worcester Railroad in Worcester this week.
WORCESTER, MA — MassDOT's continuing rehabilitation of an I-190 bridge in the Gold Star Boulevard area will cause slowdowns this week.
Construction crews will be out at work along the northbound and southbound lanes of I-190 this week paving lanes over the bridge that carries traffic over the Providence & Worcester Railroad just before Indian Lake.
This week's work will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights starting at 8 p.m. and lasting until 5 a.m. the next day. The final lane closures will lift Saturday morning.
There will be double lane closures along I-190 both the northbound and southbound sides of the highway during the work. Exit 1 to Gold Star Boulevard will also be closed, and there will be a detour as follows, according to a MassDOT news release:
- On Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., the I-190 (exit 1) southbound on-ramp at Route 12 southbound/West Boylston Street will be closed and traffic will be detoured to Route 12 northbound, onto I-190 northbound to exit 2, to Ararat Street, onto South Frontage Road, and back to I-190 southbound.
- On Friday 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. the I-190 (exit 1) northbound off-ramp will be closed, and traffic will be detoured to exit 2, North Frontage Road, onto West Mountain Street, in order to reach Route 12.
