I-90, I-290 Construction To Cause Lane, Ramp Closures In Worcester
The work affects the I-90 bridge over Route 12 in Auburn and I-290 between exits 18 and 20 in Worcester.
WORCESTER, MA — Overnight work has begun on the I-90 bridge over Route 12 in Auburn. Work began last night and will continue through Friday morning.
Traffic will be impacted between the hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to MassDOT.
When the I-290 westbound off- ramp to I-90 (exit 12A) is closed, traffic will be directed to take exit 12B and follow the detour signs for Route 12 to access I-90 eastbound and westbound.
When the I-90 ramp to I-395 southbound and I-290 eastbound is closed, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage to Route 12 southbound to access I-395 southbound and I-290 eastbound.
Additionally, overnight work is being done on I-290 eastbound and westbound between exit 18 (Grafton Street) and exit 20 (MLK Boulevard Downtown) in Worcester. The work will result in lane and ramp closures.
Work began Sunday and will continue through Thursday between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m.
This will result in lane closures as well as on and off-ramp closures on I-290 at exit 18 (Grafton Street), exit 19 (Shrewsbury Street), and exit 20 (MLK Boulevard Downtown). Traffic getting on and off I-290 at these locations will be directed to follow the detour signage in place, according to MassDOT.
Drivers who are traveling through these areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
