WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Regional Airport appears on a list of airports that JetBlue is seeking to temporarily suspend service to, according to a filing with the U.S. Department of Transportation on Wednesday. In the filing, JetBlue said that the airline, like the entire U.S. Airline industry is facing an “existential, unprecedented crisis" as the country continues to cope with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The airline is attempting to consolidate its service into one or two airports in several metropolitan areas including Boston, New York, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco. In its filing, JetBlue requested that the government allow the airline to suspend service into several regional airports between April 15 and June 10.

In a statement released on Thursday, Massport, which operates Worcester Regional, called JetBlue a "terrific partner."
