Locally Owned Coffee Shop To Open In Worcester

Here's where the new cafe is expected to open.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester's coffee scene is expected to get a new addition this year.

August Coffee is set to open at 554 Main St., across from Federal Square and The Hanover Theatre. The business's co-owner, Allison Moss, was granted a Common Victualer license by the city's License Commission earlier this month.

Moss said August Coffee will be a small, locally owned coffee shop focused on serving high-quality coffee, breakfast items, and lunch. The menu will include coffee and espresso drinks, as well as sandwiches, soups, and salads.

"Our goal is to create a common professional place for neighbors, local workers, and families," Moss said at the meeting on Jan. 8.

The business will operate during daytime hours: Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Moss said there will be no late-night service or live entertainment.

“We’re super excited to be part of the neighborhood,” said Moss at the meeting. “We think we’re going to be a pretty positive addition.”

August Coffee could open as soon as February, owners told the Telegram and Gazette.

The building on Main Street is currently home to the real estate company Menkiti Group. The MassHire Worcester Career Center is also located at 554 Main St.
