WORCESTER, MA — Worcester notched at least its eighth serious shooting so far in July early Tuesday morning when a 19-year-old was shot in the Main South area.

The shooting happened just before 2 a.m. along Freeland Street behind a McDonald's. When police arrived, they found the 19-year-old suffering from serious wounds. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Police did not immediately announce any arrests, and said the shooting was still under investigation.

In addition to other shootings across the city — including two fatal shootings on July 3 and July 4 — this is the second shooting in the Main South area in one week. Last Wednesday, a jumped out of a car and shot two people near the intersection of Main and Charlton streets.
