Man Arrested for Illegal Gun, Resisting Arrest, and Giving a Fake Name
The Worcester man was found squatting on a back porch, and after he fled, a gun was found where he was.
WORCESTER, MA—A Worcester man faces charges of illegally possessing a gun, resisting arrest and giving a fake name after he was discovered squatting on the back porch of a home on Hollywood Street.
On Monday, July 4, at approximately 1:26 a.m., Worcester police were dispatched to an address on Hollywood Street for a report of a large group of disorderly people. Police talked to a large group of males and females who had congregated in front of the address. Another Worcester officer looked around the back of the home to see if any others involved could be found.
Around back, officers found John Gray, 19, Tower Street, Worcester, squatting down in the rear common porch of the address. Officers said Gray had a shocked look on his face, and he stood up and officers asked what he was doing. Gray responded “Nothing,” before quickly opening a door from the rear porch and entering the first floor apartment, said police.
The officer then was able to perform a closer check of the area where Gray had been squatting down and observed a chrome Colt .32 firearm in the exact area where Gray had been. The officer then notified other officers that he had just located a firearm on the porch and broadcast a description of Gray. Officers in the front of the address informed the officer that Gray had just exited from the front of the residence. Gray was then detained by officers.
Officers were able to identify Gray as the same man who fled into the house, and he was arrested. While being placed into handcuffs, Gray attempted to pull away from officers and had to be physically restrained. He also gave officers at the scene a fake name.
A check through CJIS revealed that Gray does not have an FID or an LTC. A check also revealed that the firearm was stolen. Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit Detectives arrived and recovered the firearm. It was discovered that the firearm was loaded with a round in the chamber.
John Gray, 19 years old of 23 Tower Street, Worcester, Ma is be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest, Furnishing a False Name, and Receiving Stolen Property over $250.
