Man Charged With Taking Van, Running From Cops: Worcester Police

A Worcester man allegedly stole a van out of Millbury, was spotted at McDonald's in Worcester, and took off when officers tried to stop him.

WORCESTER, MA —

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, around 9:40 p.m., an officer saw a white Ford van pull into the parking lot of the McDonald’s on Main Street, aware that the van had been reported stolen earlier in the night out of Millbury.

The officer drove up behind the van, and turned on his lights, and the driver (later identified as Robert Lallier, 45, Worcester), got out of the van and walked backward away from the officer. Lallier refused to comply and took off in a full sprint across Main Street.

The officer gave chase and radioed dispatch, continuing to chase Lallier down Clement Street, back across Main Street, and up Freeland Street. The officer briefly lost sight of Lallier in the area of Freeland and Main Streets. After a short amount of time, other officers responding to the area spotted Lallier running between two buildings on Freeland Street. Lallier again refused to stop, and instead ran directly towards officers in a threatening manner, said police. Officers were able to take Lallier down to the ground and place him into handcuffs.

Lallier is being charged with Using a Motor Vehicle w/out Authority, Operating with a Suspended License, Trespassing, Disorderly Conduct, and Disturbing the Peace.
