Man Found Stabbed in Main Street Park Lot, Later Pronounced Dead

A man was found with a stab wound to the torso, sitting in a car in the YMCA parking lot. Police are searching for suspects.

WORCESTER, MA—A man was found suffering from a stab wound in a car of the YMCA parking lot on Wednesday evening, and later died at the hospital.

On Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at approximately 7:09 p.m., Worcester police responded to the area of 766 Main Street, YMCA parking lot, for a report of a male unconscious and suffering from a stab wound. Police said they found a 37-year-old male suffering from a stab wound to the torso. He was treated at the scene by Worcester EMS and transported to the hospital, where he was declared dead at 7:38 p.m.

WPD detectives and members of the WPD Crime Scene Unit arrived and took control of the investigation., finding the crime scene to be in the area of 702 Main St.

The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time until all proper notifications to family members have been completed.

At this time there is very little information pertaining to the suspect, said police. The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was getting out of his vehicle in the area of 702 Main St. when he had “words” with a male suspect. A brief altercation ensued.

Witnesses reportedly told police the victim got back into his vehicle and drove south on Main Street, turning into the YMCA parking lot. The victim stopped his vehicle and slumped over, according to a police press release. The vehicle was secured by a witness, who then called for an ambulance.
