Man Robbed and Assaulted After Using Dating App
A man arrived at a destination after receiving a message from who he thought was a woman wanting to meet him.

WORCESTER, MA—Detectives are investigating an incident where a man using a dating app showed up for his "date," and was assaulted and robbed.
Using the app called "Meet Me," the 24-year-old victim went to Decatur Street on Monday, July 11, to meet a woman he met on the app.
On Monday, July 11, detectives met with the 24-year-old male victim at police headquarters. The victim said that on July 6, 2016 he arrived at the Decatur Street address that was given to him by a female. When he got there, two men came up to him from behind and and assaulted him.
The suspects took his wallet and cell phone, fleeing on foot in an unknown direction. The victim was from New Bedford and unfamiliar with the area. He said that there was also a female there who he believes lured him to the address.
WPD detectives are currently working on the identities of the suspects. WPD would like to advise those who use apps similar to the one mentioned to use caution and exercise common sense when making arrangements to meet. It is always best to meet in a public place and not be alone. It is never recommended to meet a stranger at a specific address, especially if you are not familiar with the person or location.
